Transfer Functions of Ammonia and Partly Cracked Ammonia Swirl Flames

The replacement of hydrocarbon fuels by ammonia in industrial systems is challenging due to its low burning velocity, narrow flammability range, and a large production nitric oxide nitrogen dioxide when burned close stoichiometric conditions. Cracking fraction into hydrogen prior injection the combustion chamber considered promising strategy overcome these issues. This paper focuses on evaluating how different levels cracking affect overall lean blow-off limit, concentration dioxide, flame response acoustic perturbations. Swirl stabilized premixed flames pure ammonia–air ammonia–hydrogen–nitrogen–air mixtures mimicking 10%, 20%, 28% are experimentally investigated. results show that even though beneficial for enhancing limit impact pollutant emissions stability detrimental percentage as 20%. Based an analysis dynamics, reasons proposed.
